Melisa Wilson graduated from the University of Florida in 1999 with a bachelor’s degree in exercise and sports science and a minor in health science education. In 2003, she graduated from the Florida State University with a Bachelor of Science in nursing. While she worked as an emergency room nurse she obtained a Master's in nursing at the University of Florida with a focus on acute care nurse practitioner. Upon graduation she worked as a nurse practitioner in pulmonology and critical care. In 2007, she worked in cardiology, sub-specializing in pulmonary hypertension. During this time she has served on the PHPN board on the Symposium Committee and eventually chaired this committee. In December of 2011, she and her husband became the proud parents of Joshua Jr. "JJ" who was born at 1lb 4oz.
In July of 2012 her career has become fully dedicated to caring for families living with pulmonary hypertension. As the PH coordinator for Orlando Regional Medical Center, her focus is bridging inpatient and outpatient care, staff, patient, and community education. Ultimately, this makes her community a safer environment for those living with PAH.
Melisa has presented at multiple PH Professional Network (PHPN) symposiums and PHA conferences, as well as statewide PH symposiums and rehabilitation conferences. She has written articles for the PH Messenger and Pathlight.
She is energized by the PH community and the works of PHA and proud to be working alongside them.
