GET INVOLVED WITH YOUR CHILD’S SCHOOL
A great way to spread PH awareness to students and parents in schools is to host an event that will be both fun and educational for children and their families!
- Contact your school’s PTA
The National Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) has a local chapter within most schools. Their aim is to bring together families, students, teachers, administrators and community leaders in order to promote students’ education success and encourage parent involvement in schools. Your local Parent-Teacher Association can help you plan events and can even be an audience for your PH presentation.
It’s easy to get in touch with your local PTA! Just contact the National PTA at firstname.lastname@example.org or 800-307-4782 to find your local chapter.
- Plan your Activity
There are many things you can choose to do to educate your child’s school about pulmonary hypertension. We’ve provided a list of sample activities, but feel free to use your imagination!
- Bring activities into the classroom! Print out some crossword puzzles or word searches for your child’s classmates to complete.
- Create your own Field Day activity- for example, have students run a foot race while breathing through a straw. Explain that this is what people with PH feel like every day!
- Give a presentation at the next PTA meeting!
- Gather Materials
Visit our store to collect educational fliers and brochures to go alongside your activity- hand these out to parents and teachers who may want to know more about PH.
- Tell PHA!
We love to hear about your events and activities! Send a photo along with a description of your event to Awareness@PHAssociation.org.
