| CONGRESS PASSES GENETIC INFORMATION NON-DISCRIMINATION ACT! |

For 13 years, organizations such as the Genetic Alliance, to which PHA belongs, have worked in coalition to pass the Genetic Information Non-Discrimination Act (GINA). On April 24, the Senate passed GINA 95-0, leaving only the President's expected signature. The bill passed the House in April 2007.
Special thanks to the more than 100 PH advocates who contacted their senators and representatives about the importance of genetic non-discrimination protection for the PH community!

| SOUTHWEST VIRGINIA SUPPORT GROUP'S ADVOCACY EFFORTS PAY OFF |
Recently, PHANews reported on the Southwest Virginia Support Group's advocacy-focused meeting. Group co-leaders Jonette Robinson and Susan Temple, as well as members Elaine Moore and others, invited their U.S. representatives to attend their support group and learn about the PH Research and Education Act. As a result of their efforts, a staff member from Rep. Virgil Goode's office participated in the group's last meeting.
We are thrilled to report that on April 16, 2008, Rep. Virgil Goode became the most recent co-sponsor of the PH Research and Education Act. Congratulations Southwest Virginia Support Group!
