Patient story

Pooja Salgaonkar

After being misdiagnosed with asthma for many years, I was finally diagnosed in 2007 as having severe pulmonary hypertension. I had never heard about the existence of such a disease. I found support on the internet and I was completely shattered reading about it. Awareness of PH is much less in India, with no proper, affordable medicine. I was bedridden for more than a year with endless suffering. Finally, in 2009 I found about the clinical research program, so I was enrolled in sitaxentan study by Pfizer. I saw an amazing recovery within a few months.

Now, my life is worth living and I have made a great comeback thanks to my family, friends and doctors who have made this happen!!! So my message to newly diagnosed is do not lose HOPE and have faith in GOD. Miracles happen and a cure is just around the corner.

Special THANKS to the PH community and PHA website, which keeps me updated with new happenings....
