Rainbows and Races:
PH 8th Annual Race Against PH
By Harry Rozakis

The 8th Annual Race Against PH at Stanford was
a great success with somewhere between 1,200
and 1,500 people showing up for the event.
Despite the pouring rain the day before and a slight
mist early morning Sunday, the most incredible
rainbow appeared in time for the race. It was an
amazing day with the temperature rising to about 67
degrees.
Dr. Jeff Feinstein (Director of the Vera
M. Wall Center) and Dr. Rohan Zamanian
spoke and commended PHA for their great work.
I thanked the crowd for their support and talked about how PHA
works day and night to raise money for a cure. The event raised
approximately $55,000 for PH research.
I had a great opportunity to walk the race and speak with
patients, friends and family members. Taking part in the race was
a 10-year-old girl named Amy who several months ago had a heartlung
transplant. I met an elderly woman who lost her husband two
years ago to PH and now was walking with her friend in memory of
him. Many representatives of the Ewing family had a team. The very
first Race Against PH was held in honor of the late Patricia Ewing.
