Support Groups

Welcome All New Leaders!

Hawaii PHers Jan 2008Support Group Update
February 2008

We’ve had a surge of new groups, new co-leaders, and new patients stepping up to help lead existing or inactive groups. Here’s a shout out to the recent additions:

Alex Flipse in Victoria, Texas is re-starting her group and having the first official meeting with a sponsor and dinner-style event in March. She also happens to be my sister ;0) Visit group web page

Dan Luce in Kansas is taking over for long-time leader Kristie Breault, who has given many years to the group and stepped down half a year ago. Visit group web page

Wyoming has its first group with patient co-leaders Nancy and Cricket already organizing a year’s worth of outreach, awareness raising and education. They’re creating a foundation for a long-lasting presence for support throughout their state. Visit group web page

Hawaii has a new statewide group that meets on Oahu (see picture above). With Accredo’s groundwork, they had a “testing-the-waters” meeting in January to see if there’s interest. Patients Barbara and co-leader Ginger will continue the effort and set up a meeting in March. Thanks to Caring Voice Coalition, their group will have the potential to double in size. Accredo is helping to set up a group in Flint, Michigan. Ann Arbor Support Group leader and patient Beverly Lipmyer will lead this group and a first meeting is scheduled for March. Visit group web page

Dr. David Pham is working with area locals to start up a new group for the Newport Beach, Southern California area. His new group forming at Hoag Hospital will hopefully draw new patients who are unable to attend the other groups in Orange County. Visit group web page

For now, I am your humble Volunteer Services Director,
