The second quarterly meeting for 2007 of the CFSG was held at the Celebration Hotel in Celebration, Fla., on Saturday, June 16. The meeting was attended by 22 adults and 3 children. The attendees were patients, their caregivers, therapeutic specialists, company sales representatives and healthcare professionals. Mrs. Penni Perez-Potter from A.C.C.E.S.S. spoke on the subject of disability and insurance and how A.C.C.E.S.S. can assist patients with application, appeal and approval of disability and insurance entitlements.
Following Penni’s presentation, Ms. Pamela Stockwell from the Caring Voice Coalition was introduced to the group and spoke briefly on the mission of her organization. Pam is scheduled to be the featured speaker at the December support group meeting.
The next scheduled quarterly meeting is set for September 15, 2007. The speaker for this meeting will be Shelly Tash, Medical Billing, HIPPA and EDI subject matter expert who will speak on how to identify billing errors on your account statements and how to have them corrected by your provider and insurer.
The corporate sponsorship for this meeting was generous and all meeting expenses, including the brunch buffet were prepaid. We continue to focus on spreading the word to the regional PH patient population and healthcare professionals that the support group is available to serve them and their needs.
