Things I Found on PHA's Website
Special Events
This week I 'found' something but did not stop looking. I'd better explain that.
I was reading the PHA message boards and a subject line jumped out at me: "E-Bay" So of course I had to read that. A very helpful community member named Tomas posted about donating a portion of the proceeds of an online auction to PHA through eBay Giving Works, and he gave information for donating right through eBay Giving Works even if your item did not sell. Tomas said: "I have found that this is a great way to send a few bucks to PHA for all that they do for us."
Well, that was too good to end there. I had to find a way to make this the 'thing I found', with special thanks to Tomas! My search brought me to the "Donate" page and then on to the resource for the week: "Special Events."
This section is full of information and resources for attending or even planning your own PH community event to raise awareness and funds. From fun walks to golf tournaments, whatever you want to plan, there are resources at PHA to help, including an online guide to help you get started. PHA has a full-time staff member dedicated to helping you with this process. Please contact Jessica McKearin, PHA's Special Events Manager, at event@PHAssociation.org with any questions or to talk about your ideas!
So now you are wondering how I jumped from eBay to special events, and why I was still looking. As is often the case, I start out looking for one resource and it leads me to another. I did not find info on the site on how to donate through an eBay auction, but eBay itself offers help for that, and when you list an item for auction, a place to designate a listed charity to receive part or all of the profits is right there on the form. And an eBay auction really can be a "special event!"

I welcome suggestions! Please send them to me at pha@PHAssociation.org. If you have a particular interest or need for info on any PH-related topic, please suggest it to me and I'll locate the resources on the site. If I can't locate information for your topic, I'll know what to suggest for additions to the website. If you have found something on the website to be particularly helpful please suggest that as well.
