IN MEMORIAM

Meaghan HicksThe life of every member of our PH community is precious to us and every loss is mourned. Many of you have come to know about the life and struggles with PH of Meaghan Hicks through conference and symposium presentations by her dad and current PHA Board Chair Carl Hicks. We are sorry to share the sad news that Meaghan, who underwent a heart and double lung transplant in 2007, lost her battle with PH on January 30. We mourn with Carl and his family and with all of you who have ever lost a loved one to this terrible disease.

Carl - who also became renowned for making visits to 111 Congressional offices to promote the Pulmonary Hypertension Research and Education Act over the course of two days in 2007 - has vowed to fight on with all of us. As he told PHA's Board of Trustees, "Meaghan never gave up, she never quit. We can never give up, we can never quit in this fight against PH. It is my honor and duty to be in this fight with each of you."
