American Thoracic Society’s Annual Free Patient Forum

The American Thoracic Society Public Advisory Roundtable (PAR) is pleased to invite you to the 11th annual free patient and family forum, Meet-the-Experts.

This year, the theme for this patient and family roundtable forum is “The Role of Patients in Advancing Treatments and Cures.”

Complimentary parking and lunch will be provided. There will also be an oxygen refill station for those attendees with portable oxygen needs.

Virginia D. Steen, M.D.Virginia D. Steen, M.D., is a professor of medicine with tenure and rheumatology fellowship director at Georgetown University Medical Center in Washington, D.C. Dr. Steen has made many contributions to the understanding of epidemiology and natural history of systemic scleroderma.  She continues to work closely with her pulmonary and cardiology colleagues to co-manage the treatment of many patients with scleroderma and PH.
Gautam V. Ramani, M.D.Gautam V. Ramani, M.D., is an assistant professor of medicine in cardiovascular medicine at the University of Maryland School of Medicine. He is board certified in cardiovascular diseases, advanced heart failure and transplantation, nuclear cardiology and echocardiography. Dr. Ramani is a member of the American College of Cardiology, the International Society of Heart and Lung Transplantation and the Pulmonary Hypertension Association.
Denise J. Lewis, R.N., BSNDenise J. Lewis, R.N., BSN has been working with PAH patients for three and a half years at the Inova Fairfax Hospital group. Denise received her R.N. license from NOVA and completed her R.N. to BSN at VCU. She has been in the medical field for 16 years in various roles before taking a stronger interest in working with PH patients. Denise is also a member of PH Professional Network and has participated in PH panels at the 2016 PHA’s International PH Conference and PHA on the Road: PH Patients and Families Education Forum in Washington, D.C.
Traci Housten, R.N., M.S.Traci Housten, R.N., M.S., is a nurse for The John Hopkins Pulmonary Hypertension Program. She has a master’s degree in health policy from the University of Maryland and has cared for patients with PH for more than 20 years. Traci is one of the founding members of the PH Professional Network. She served as the organization’s co-chair in 1999 and co-chaired the first PHPN Symposium in 2005. She was also the recipient of PHA’s Outstanding Medical Professional Award in 2002.
Jason Elinoff, M.D.Jason Elinoff, M.D., is an assistant clinical investigator at the National Institute of Health. He is board certified in critical care medicine, pulmonary medicine and internal medicine. Dr. Elinoff is a member of the American Thoracic Society, the Society of Critical Care Medicine, the Massachusetts Medical Society and an affiliate member of the American College of Chest Physicians. Dr. Elinoff was also a presenter for the PHA on the Road: PH Patients and Families Education Forum in Washington, D.C., in the fall of 2016.
