Generation Hope (Young Adult) Advisory Board

PHA Advisory Boards

The Generation Hope Advisory Board helps PHA to strategize, plan and gather feedback on issues related to young adults (age 19-39) with PH. The Advisory Board makes recommendations to PHA about new and existing education, services and programming to meet the needs of young adult patients and their families. The Advisory Board meets quarterly. The Advisory Board facilitates a welcome wagon for the Generation Hope social media presence and hosts quarterly virtual meet-ups for other young adults living with PH.

I was diagnosed with Idiopathic Pulmonary Hypertension in February 2015, which was during my senior year of high school. Despite the circumstances, I continue to live life to the fullest. I am learning how to play polo (on horseback), working, and attending college with the hopes to one day be a Nurse Practitioner.

After being diagnosed with severe PH at age 23, joining the PHA community helped me pick up the pieces of my former life and learn how to really live instead of merely survive.

As a Generation Hope Advisor, my highest priority is to provide the best support system for Pulmonary Hypertension Association’s Generation Hope members. I aspire to contribute to PHA’s mission by sharing available resources, encouraging public engagement, and promoting clinical trial research efforts.

I have had PH for 15 years and am 21 years old. I want to show other young adult patients that it's ok to be yourself with or without PH.

I found PHA in April 2006, and I was able to PHriends and build PHriendships over the years. I became involved in bringing awareness of PH to my community with a couple of fundraisers, and I started a support group in the Mid-Hudson Valley region in November 2011. I became the PHA's Generation Hope Blog Co-coordinator in April 2012, and in January 2013, I joined the PHA's Generation Hope Advisory Board. And I'm blessed to be apart of this amazing organization that supports and empowers the PH community.

I started with PHA as a Young Adult Advisory Board Member and PH Patient Mentor in 2009 to help develop programs for young adults and all PH patients.
