Within an hour after issuing our Dec. 21 PHANews, PHA learned that the Patient Advocate Foundation (PAF)’s PH fund has been fully allocated and is not currently accepting applications. PHA will continue to share information about financial assistance opportunities for the PH community as we receive them.
PHA has recently updated our financial assistance page: www.PHAssociation.org/Patients/Insurance/Financial-Assistance
The new page includes information about three non-profit organizations of interest to individuals seeking assistance paying for PH medications.
- The Assistance Fund recently added pulmonary hypertension to their list of covered diseases, however, as of Dec. 19, 2017 the fund was not yet accepting applications. Check the status of this program at https://tafcares.org/patients/covered-diseases/
- PAN Foundation recently added pulmonary hypertension to their list of covered diseases for individuals with Medicare. However, as of Dec. 19, 2017 the fund was not yet accepting applications. Check the status of the program at: https://panfoundation.org/index.php/en/patients/assistance-programs/pulmonary-hypertension
- The Patient Advocate Foundation (PAF) Up until Dec. 21, the fund was accepting applications from people diagnosed with PH who have government-funded health insurance (Medicare, Medicaid, U.S. military). The Patient Advocate Foundation (PAF)’s PH fund has been fully allocated and is not currently accepting applications.
In addition, PHA has updated our list of patient assistance programs offered by drug manufacturers. Since the non-profit programs listed above primarily serve individuals with Medicare and other government-funded health insurance, those who are uninsured or have commercial insurance may find the manufacturer programs more helpful.
In addition, PHA has added information about federal programs like Medicare Extra Help and a prompt for contacting state and federal elected officials.
This Dec. 21 Bloomberg story highlights how Caring Voice Coalition developments are impacting people with PH.
