On Saturday, August 10, the PH community in greater Los Angeles will come together to support PHA at All Hearts on Deck: Game Night PHor a Cure. This unique fundraising event is hosted on the deck of the USS Iowa docked at the Los Angeles waterfront. The evening’s activities include live music, dinner, a silent auction, prizes and playing games such as blackjack and roulette with “PHun” money.

PHA Board of Trustees member and support group leader, Monica Penaranda, organizes the fundraiser to benefit PHA. “This is a night that shines light on PH patients,” says Monica. “It’s all about the patients and everyone is there to love, support and help patients have a voice and grow closer to a cure!”

Last year, her favorite memory was seeing “the lights from the bridge reflecting in the water, and the shining sparklers being passed around to light the fantail of the ship, all in the memory of those we have lost,” says Monica. “I still get chills thinking about that bittersweet moment. All Hearts on Deck is a fun-filled night and that moment brought a little more understanding to guests as to what we were there for.”

Monica was diagnosed with pulmonary hypertension at age 16. She sees how “PHA has helped thousands of PHers over the last couple decades. I see the great things they have done and continue to do in our community. We want to help PHA continue to help!”
