The Pulmonary Hypertension Association (PHA) announces that Azalea Candelaria has joined the organization as Vice President of Development. Azalea will lead individual giving, events, planned giving and corporate and foundation grants programs to ensure financial resources to achieve PHA’s mission — one of the organization’s strategic key focus areas (KFAs).

Azalea brings a rich depth and breadth of experience to PH, beginning with her first fundraising job in 1998 at the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. She believes success in nonprofit fund development means creating a culture of philanthropy guided by collective accountability for achieving programmatic goals.

Azalea appreciates that PHA’s most committed and passionate individual donors and fund raisers are PH patients, caregivers and healthcare professionals. In addition to providing continued support and stewardship to sustain and strengthen the commitment of these generous supporters, she and her team will partner with our volunteers to expand PHA’s donor portfolio.

Over the years, Azalea has held national and regional leadership positions at the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, March of Dimes and the American Occupational Therapy Foundation. She has a strong track record in fundraising strategy and execution and extensive experience in partnering with volunteers.

PHA’s other strategic KFAs include: advocate for the PH community, catalyze research for a cure, empower patients and caregivers, and promote quality patient care — all which rely on ensuring financial resources to achieve our mission.
