Dear friends,

In just a few days, the Pulmonary Hypertension Association (PHA) will unveil its latest Pulmonary Hypertension (PH) Awareness Month calendar, shareable resources and educational resources.

The goal of Pulmonary Hypertension Awareness Month is to raise awareness about PH among the public, including people at risk for PH and those who unknowingly live with PH. PHA provides tools each November for our community to educate health care providers and elected officials, as well as the public, about this rare, often-misunderstood disease.

This year’s theme is “PHacing the Future Day by Day.” Please help us spread the word by sharing our social media posts, news stories, downloadable tools from our online toolkit, and our award-winning interactive PH Awareness Month calendar.

We encourage you to visit the calendar each day to download resources and rewards to share with your families, friends and colleagues. Some of the most exciting downloads include videos of seven sessions from PHA 2022 International PH Conference and Scientific Sessions.

Our toolkit, which is online now, features social media graphics, sample posts, profile and cover images, customizable news releases to share with local media outlets, and other resources to raise PH awareness.

As part of our Awareness Month activities, we’re presenting a new PHA Live webinar on research advancements. Please join us at 2 p.m. ET for a panel discussion moderated by Anna Hemnes, M.D., and Evan Brittain, M.D., M.Sc. Panelists Thenappan Thenappan, M.D., and Corey Ventetuolo, M.D., will share data presented at PHA 2022 International PH Conference and Scientific Sessions in Atlanta. The expert PH panel will also discuss the latest advances in PH clinical research and the potential impact on patients.

In November, we also encourage you to reach out to your elected officials and engage in fundraising events, such PHA’s O2breathe walks in California, and Giving Tuesday, which coincides with the end of PH Awareness Month.

Throughout the year, we encourage the PH community to share its stories with policymakers. This year, we’re particularly asking people who use supplemental oxygen (and their caregivers and loved ones) to participate in PHA’s Day of Action on Nov. 17. Please take a few moments to sign this petition urging Congress to improve oxygen access.

During November, we also celebrate CTEPH Awareness Day, which falls on Nov. 9. The day aims to draw attention to thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension (CTEPH), a form of PH caused by old blood clots in the lungs.

I hope you find our resources as informative and helpful as I do. Please visit our calendar starting Monday and make sure to share our Awareness Month resources on Twitter, Instagram, Facebook and LinkedIn.

Your participation is critical to raising awareness in November and throughout the year. We thank you for your support of PHA and your commitment to helping us secure earlier diagnosis, improved outcomes and better understanding of PH.

Please let us know how you plan to participate in PH Awareness Month. I look forward to hearing from you.

With gratitude and respect,
