Dear friends,
If you needed yet another reason to be proud of the hard-working staff at PHA, here’s one: PHA recently won two EXCEL awards for outstanding communications and marketing efforts from the Software & Information Industry Association (SIIA) AM&P Network. The awards are the largest, most prestigious recognition of excellence and leadership in association media, publishing, marketing and communications.
Our 2020 Pulmonary Hypertension Awareness Month: disCOVER PH campaign received a gold award for advocacy/awareness campaigns. The campaign, which launched our 30th anniversary celebrations, featured a digital Advent-style calendar that each day revealed infographics, activities and facts about pulmonary hypertension (PH) designed to share. Downloads included computer and phone backgrounds, social media covers, coloring pages and more.
We also received a bronze award for our 2020 COVID-19 pandemic response which included our COVID-19 information pages on phassociation.org, PHA Connects promotions, print and digital mailings, and articles in Pathlight magazine and PHA News.
The awards highlight the importance of PHA’s continuous work to educate patients, health care professionals and the public about PH. The PHA team works year-round to raise awareness of the disease, its symptoms, treatment and associated conditions — not just during Awareness Month in November or World PH Day in May.

Every word we write, every graphic we design, every event we produce, and every service we provide aims to secure earlier PH diagnosis; accessible and affordable treatment; and funding for research that improves patient health and quality of life and eventually leads to a cure.
We also work to provide information about issues that threaten the health of the PH community, especially those vulnerable to severe complications of an illness like COVID-19. From the earliest days of pandemic uncertainties, PHA has worked to bring you up-to-date information, provide prevention tactics and answer your questions.
That continues today as our COVID-19 Task Force and scientific leadership encourage widespread vaccination. PHA’s COVID-19 Task Force is a collaboration of medical professionals, specialists, patients and PHA staff. It aims to provide up-to-date information about COVID-19, the vaccine and implications for people with PH.
Check with your PHA care team about what’s best for you or your loved ones, as every situation is unique. As always, feel free to share additional feedback with me.
With gratitude and respect,
