Prompted by recent successes in the field of oncology in precision medicine, the Pulmonary Hypertension Association’s (PHA) Scientific Sessions Committee has invited Sagar Lonial, M.D., FACP, an internationally-recognized leading authority in multiple myeloma treatment and research, to provide his insight in the field of PH to health care providers. Dr. Lonial’s research has focused on combinations of novel agents as therapy for myeloma and lymphoma, and particularly on evaluating combinations that may result in synergistic inhibition of the PI3-K/Akt pathway. His lab has received funding from the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation, the Lymphoma Research Foundation and The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
In his session, “Academia, Industry and Patient Advocacy Foundations Working Together to Develop New Therapeutics,” Dr. Lonial will highlight the changing landscape of drug development, review the various stakeholders in creating new therapies and discuss how unifying these stakeholders is an important goal in improving patient outcomes.
PHA’s 2018 International PH Conference and Scientific Sessions, the largest international gathering of PH community members in the world, will bring together nearly 500 PH-treating health care professionals to exchange knowledge and connect on advancements made in the field of PH. The theme of this year’s PHA Scientific and Clinical Sessions is “The Path to Precision Medicine in Pulmonary Vascular Disease.” PHA is offering 20 accredited continuing education sessions aligned with this theme, and participants can earn up to 15.5 hours of CME/CE credit. For the first time, CME/CE credit also will be available for participation in the abstract poster session Thursday, June 28, which will include lightning-round presentations of the top submitted abstracts.
Don’t miss this and many other thought-provoking discussions — today is the last day to register online for PHA’s 2018 International PH Conference and Scientific Sessions in Orlando, Fla., June 29 to July 1, at www.PHAssociation.org/Conference.
