Open enrollment season is wrapping up for many insurance plans. Here is some important information about Medicare and state and federal insurance marketplace plans:
Medicare: Open enrollment for 2021 coverage ends Monday, Dec. 7.
Medicare Advantage: People with Medicare Advantage plans can switch to different Medicare Advantage plans between Jan. 1, 2021, and March 31, 2021. During that time, you can opt out of Medicare Advantage and switch back to original Medicare (parts A&B) with or without prescription drug coverage (Part D).
Marketplace: Open enrollment through state and federal health insurance marketplaces ends Tuesday, Dec. 15. Coverage bought by that date will be valid through 2021, regardless of political efforts to alter the Affordable Care Act.
