Many of us are apart from our loved ones during the pandemic, but we’re not alone. Working together, we can improve life for those with pulmonary hypertension (PH) during the COVID-19 pandemic and beyond. Turn your members of Congress into champions in the fight against PH. Share your PH story with lawmakers through a sample email or talking points from the Pulmonary Hypertension Association (PHA).

“I thought [talking with legislative staff] would be hard … but once I got there and started talking to them, I realized … they actually do care about me and people who have this disease,” says Nicole Hogan-Williams of Las Vegas. Williams, who was diagnosed in 2018 with pulmonary arterial hypertension, met with her Nevada lawmakers last year. “They want to help, and that … made me feel so good.”

Sen. Jacky Rosen (D-Nevada) became one of the first cosponsors of the Safe Step Act, thanks to Williams sharing her story. The bill aims to protect people with serious health conditions from a requirement to first try cheaper therapies before a more expensive therapy their doctors believe would be more effective.
