The Pulmonary Hypertension Association hosts its biennial conference to provide education and connection for the PH community. The event features two education tracks: one for patients and caregivers through general and breakout sessions, and one for health care professionals through Scientific Sessions.

Event highlights include support group meetings, teens and kids’ activities, an exhibit hall, opportunities to participate in scientific research, PHA’s outstanding member awards ceremony, the fashion show and closing-night party, and more.

PHA 2026 theme combines hope and Texas slang

Diane Dauwalder of Fort Worth, Texas, a longtime Pulmonary Hypertension Association volunteer and leader of the Fort Worth support group, won the PHA 2026 theme contest. Her submission “PHixin’ to Find a Cure,” combines Texas slang with her hope for a cure.

Originally from New Jersey, Dauwalder says she’s picked up plenty of Texas phrases since moving to Fort Worth. While brainstorming contest theme ideas, she was determined to find a way to blend a Texas expression with a wordplay twist — specifically by replacing the letter “F” with “PH.” The lightbulb moment came when she was hanging out with friends and heard someone say they were “fixin’ to do something.” Fixin’s can also refer to all the side dishes or ingredients with a meal.

Dauwalder received free conference registration for two, a $50 Amazon gift card, PHA swag and unlimited bragging rights. The contest was held in June 2025.
