Join us for the inaugural Tampa O2breathe Fun Run and Walk on Feb. 2, 2019, at Al Lopez Park in Tampa, Fla. The event features a 5K fun run, walk and family activities. The event is the Pulmonary Hypertension Association’s (PHA’s) first event in the greater Tampa Bay/St. Petersburg area. It marks a great opportunity for the pulmonary hypertension (PH) community to come together to raise awareness and vital funds to find a cure for PH.

There is power in numbers and PHA needs you to get involved! You can join the event by:

  • Becoming a team captain: Create a team, set a fundraising goal and invite everyone you know to join you in raising money.
  • Joining an existing team: Set a personal fundraising goal and fundraise alongside your teammates.
  • Contributing: Make a donation to an existing team or the whole event.
  • Sponsoring: PHA’s O2 breatheTM program offers companies the opportunity to reach a wide audience while showing their commitment to the PH community.

The Tampa event was inspired by the passing of PH patient Missy Stok Rizzo. “I knew that I had to get involved and give back to those that were able to give us insight in our difficult times,” said Missy’s husband, Brian.

Missy enjoyed running prior to her diagnosis, which is why it was important to her family and friends to start a 5K fun run and walk in Tampa. Missy was a very fun-loving person who always found a way to have fun and laugh. It is their hope that this event brings hope and connections to all who attend.

Kathy, Missy’s best friend, is working hard to fundraise in Missy’s honor, knowing she “will be surrounded by people in the PH community who understand the disease and want, as desperately as we do, to find a cure.”
