Traveling with PH can be stressful and requires extra planning. Check out this article from Eric R. Fenstad, MD, Cardiovascular Fellow, Mayo Clinic Division of Cardiovascular Diseases and Internal Medicine, Rochester, Minn.https://phassociation.org/patients/aboutph/ask-a-ph-specialist/traveling-with-ph/ For a patient’s perspective, Barbara Holden’s blog post on traveling by train is a must read – https://phassociation.org/travel-train-1200-mile-ph-adventure/

I always pack comfortable shoes because there is a LOT of walking. Slippers for my tired feet at night. And I always try to remember to bring my own no-sodium salt substitute. Gotta try to be good part of the time!

I always bring a sweater/light jacket because the hotel meeting rooms are always so cold.
Bring a swimsuit (if you can swim, not me 🙁 ) the pool area is amazing especially for kids.

I always make sure to bring/ refill extra days of my PH meds because if an emergency ever happens, the hospitals never have what I need. I’m lucky if most ER’s even know what they are or much about this disease.
Perfect example was this past weekend….I had to have my appendix taken out with about a 30 min notice last Friday (not how my weekend was supposed to go. LOL). Thank God I had my meds in my purse with me because the hospital kept me 2 extra days.
