I’d been having breathing issues & had a pulmonary embolism in 2013, so ended up in urgent care where after D dimer and other blood tests and a CT scan and chest xray the doc said I seem to have pulmonary hypertension. Am going to see a specialist on Tuesday. In the meantime I’m back home and doing odd things like sweating when folding laundry. So of course I’m also having great anxiety about this, which probably doesn’t help. At entry my BP was 164/72. Usually it’s in the 110-20/50-70 range. She said they’d take it again, but didn’t. So not sure what’s going on there.

Doc gave me antibiotics (sinus infection/drainage) and steroids.

As a side note, I have had atrial fibrillation off/on for over a decade now. I’m overweight but have lost 40 pounds in the past year and am steady on keeping that going.

Thank you for asking. It was very useful. I had an assessment in what they called the “glass booth” which showed considerable weakness in my exhaling capabilities. We came up with a plan to attack this by going after the things we could. Fortunately I am already on a good plan for losing weight and am continuing that. We upped my Lasix to try and deal with the pulmonary edema (but wasn’t enough & ended up in Urgent Care this weekend with Lasix IV that helped a lot). He added a nebulizer to my Advair & Spiriva treatments, so have three breathing meds. Am going back to see him soon for update on plan.

I have afib & a great cardiologist, who I spoke with after diagnosis & he immediately set up a heart echo. It showed moderate PH, but heart function is good. So there’s that.
