Twelve years ago, Amy Burant’s life changed forever. As a young mom with a 3-year-old daughter, she was diagnosed with pulmonary hypertension. Despite the poor prognosis, Amy was determined to do all she could to manage her disease and be there for her daughter and husband.
Today, Amy is thriving. This year, she joined the Pulmonary Hypertension Association on Capitol Hill for World PH Day on the Hill, moving through the halls of Congress, oxygen tank and all, with her now-teenage daughter, Sophie, by her side.

During Hill Day, Amy didn’t just share her story. She delivered a clear, compelling message to lawmakers and their staff. She advocated for increased research funding for the National Institutes of Health, knowing firsthand that every PH treatment available today was made possible through federal support. She championed the Supplemental Oxygen Access Reform Act, emphasizing how her quality of life depends on reliable access to liquid oxygen.
