Happy Valentine’s Day: PHA Releases New Intimacy Guide
What better way to celebrate Valentine’s Day than to announce a new Pulmonary Hypertension Association (PHA) resource on the topic of dating, relationships and intimacy? Today PHA releases “Living With PH: A Guide to Intimacy” in response to a known need for information and helpful tips to cope with and overcome the effects of pulmonary hypertension (PH) on body image, intimacy issues, dating and long-term relationships. Several of the most popular sessions during PHA’s International PH Conference and Scientific Sessions and PHA on the Road are about intimacy issues.
Intimacy and sexuality give individuals ways to express feelings and desires; it is important to make the most of intimate relationships to have a fulfilling sex life. This may involve making some changes and being creative to ensure safety and comfort.
PHA and members of the PH community, including health care professionals, individuals with PH, caregivers, young adults and parents, collaborated to create the intimacy guide, a resource that helps initiate productive conversations about intimacy and sex. The guide also provides hints to help overcome intimacy and sexual issues faced by individuals living with PH.
