Pulmonary Hypertension (PH) Awareness Month continues this week with shareable graphics and interactive tools to raise awareness of common causes and often-misdiagnosed symptoms.
Today, we’re focusing on the holiday season. This year’s celebration will be challenging for everyone, particularly PH patients, because of the COVID-19 pandemic. For tips on managing the stresses of the holiday season, head to the Pulmonary Hypertension Association’s (PHA) Awareness Month Calendar.
In the past week, our Awareness Month Calendar offered downloadable graphics to help others “Discover PH” and its complex symptoms. Over the weekend, it featured digital graphics on breathlessness, the most common PH symptom, and congestive heart failure, the most common cause of PH. Don’t forget to share them on social media.

On Monday, we encouraged everyone to become part of PHA’s mission to empower PH patients and support scientists in their work toward a cure. Awareness Month is a great time to join PHA and help us change the future of PH.
On Tuesday, we called everyone’s attention to fatigue, a symptom reported by 27% of PAH patients prior to diagnosis, with a shareable graphic to raise awareness.
Yesterday, we provided a link to download a free copy of “Roadmap to Hope: A guide for people who are newly diagnosed with pulmonary hypertension (PH).” This publication is an invaluable resource for those facing a new PH diagnosis.

Whether you are new to PH or a long-term survivor, get your PH questions answered at “About PH,” our next “Ask the Expert” Facebook Live Q&A tomorrow, Nov. 20, at 7 p.m. EST. You can watch the event on our website or Facebook. Yesterday, we offered “About PH” in Spanish. If you missed it, view the recording on our website.
If you haven’t already done so, there’s still time to share your story with Congress. This is a critical time to educate your lawmakers about life with PH and let them know why preserving access to health care is so important.
The items from the Awareness Month Calendar are available all month long to download. Check the calendar each day to find out what’s new, and follow PHA on social media for news and resources.
Be sure to visit our Awareness Month Toolkit for social media profile and cover photos, fact sheets and a customizable press release so you can share your story with your community. The toolkit also includes sample social media posts.
PHA is grateful for Janssen Pharmaceuticals, Inc.’s support of PH Awareness Month.
