Open enrollment for the individual health insurance marketplace runs Nov. 1 through Dec. 15. Individual marketplace plans can’t discriminate against people with pre-existing conditions, and most enrollees qualify for assistance with coverage costs.

Young adults, people who don’t have insurance, those between jobs and those covered by COBRA potentially can benefit from health insurance through the marketplace. Coverage begins Jan. 1, 2021, and is valid through the entire year, regardless of political efforts to alter the Affordable Care Act.
