SLC Insurance Advocacy Committee
Mission Statement and Charge
The Insurance Advocacy Committee supports PHA in its mission to educate the pulmonary hypertension (PH) community about insurance while increasing payer awareness about PH treatment and diagnosis best practices. In order to assure that both public and private payers create and adhere to medically-sound policies in the best interest of PH patients, the Insurance Advocacy Committee is charged with supporting the following activities:
- The Insurance Advocacy Committee will guide PHA’s response to time-sensitive payer policy and formulary changes that result in dealyed or non-coverage.
- The Insurance Advocacy Committee will spearhead long-term policy campaigns to promote constructive policy change within public payers, government institutions and specific healthcare fields (e.g., palliative care).
- The Insurance Advocacy Committee will create and review educational and outreach materials targeted at patients, medical professionals and payers.
The Insurance Advocacy Committee will convene periodically to discuss progress, evaluate goals and plan.
