The Pulmonary Hypertension Association (PHA) recently released a new resource for information on pulmonary hypertension (PH). “PH 101,” provides a comprehensive survey of the diagnosis, classification and treatment options. The two-part video series is presented by Jean Elwing, M.D., director of the PH program at UC Health in Cincinnati.

In Part One, Dr. Elwing discusses PH causes and classifications and how PH is diagnosed. In Part Two, Dr. Elwing delves into the diagnostic process, the importance of an accurate diagnosis and reasons for extensive testing. She also explains available treatments and how PH care teams choose treatment plans.

“Our goal for the PH 101 series was to provide a comprehensive source of information for PH patients and their families,” says Jill Zajac, PHA patient education program manager. “A PH diagnosis can be overwhelming, and these videos help patients understand the different types of PH and the treatment options available to them.”

Both videos are available on PHA Classroom. PHA will present a Facebook Live “Ask the Expert: About PH” Q&A. The Nov. 18 event is in Spanish and the Nov. 20 program is in English. Both events will be at 7 p.m. EST and can be viewed on PHA’s website or Facebook page. The events are part of PHA’s Awareness Month programming.
