3 Steps To Pass Safe Step Act #StepUpForPatients Join PHA and Safe Step Coalition partners to urge Congress to pass the Safe Step Act before the end of the year. Here’s a simple way to take action:
  1. Take a picture of yourself standing on a step. Any step will do.
  2. Use this pre-written social media post (feel free to edit it) and post it with your picture to social media: “I’m stepping up for patients! @SenJohnThune @SenSchumer @SpeakerJohnson @RepJeffries Please pass the Safe Step Act to ensure people can get insurance coverage for the treatment their doctor recommends without unnecessary delays. It’s time to put patients first. #StepUpForPatients #SafeStepAct.”
  3. (Optional): If you want to add extra flair to your post, print one of the Safe Step Act Coalition’s placard designs and hold it when you take your photo.
The step in your photo can be anywhere: at home, in your office, inside or outside. The location doesn’t matter. What matters is getting your picture posted to encourage Congress to pass the Safe Step Act before this congressional session ends on Dec. 31.Thanks to your advocacy efforts, the Safe Step Act has advanced further in the legislative process than ever before. We have the support of 47 Senate cosponsors (nearly half of all Senators) and 235 House cosponsors (54% of House representatives). The bill would ensure timely access to life-saving medication by creating reasonable exceptions to “fail-first” policies some insurers use to control health care costs. Step therapy requires a person to try one or more insurer-preferred medications and fail on that treatment before the insurer will cover the medication that their doctor recommends. Now, we need to ensure leaders in both chambers of Congress hear the importance of adding the Safe Step Act to an end-of-year legislative package.Questions?
