A new grant for early-career researchers is available from the Pulmonary Hypertension Association and American Thoracic Society.

The ATS-PHA Early Career Award is a $50,000 grant to foster development of junior investigators with the potential to make strong, sustained contributions to pulmonary hypertension research.

The one-year grant is PHA’s newest research award. Within the past year, PHA decided to begin co-funding with other organizations to make its research dollars go further. As research funding through other means, such as the National Institutes for Health, has decreased, PHA wanted to help fill the gap.

The grant will cover salaries and supplies for the research project. The grant will be awarded in September and begin in January 2027.

Projects should focus on:

  • PH pathophysiology
  • Mechanistic pathways involved in PH
  • New therapeutic targets or biomarkers
  • Adult or pediatric PH research
