Matthew’s Gift, a private family foundation in Florida, donated $50,000 to the Pulmonary Hypertension Association. The donation will fund PHA’s pediatric research grants.
“This investment in pediatric research will have ripple effects on the lives of children with pulmonary hypertension for many years to come,” PHA CEO Matt Granato said. “We appreciate that Matthew’s Gift seeks to support medical breakthroughs and long-term impact through their investment in research.”
Matthew’s Gift is named for Matthew Gable, who battled PH until age 5. The foundation provides financial assistance to families dealing with complex medical needs. It also:
- Supports research to develop medication for children with PH.
- Helps Central Florida hospitals buy supplies and equipment to care for children who need complex medical care.
- Helps families financially with funeral arrangements and related expenses.
The foundation’s partnership with PHA is a natural fit, said Courtney Durham, director of individual giving, PHA. The world of pediatric PH research is small and PHA is one of the largest non-governmental grant makers in that space, she said.

“Together, we are forging a path to improved treatment and discovery of a cure,” Durham said. “We extend deep thanks to Matthew’s Gift. This contribution and ongoing partnership will make a transformational difference in the scope of pediatric PH research initiatives.”
