The Pulmonary Hypertension Association Board of Trustees began its new term July 1 with new officers and five new members.
The new officers, who will serve two-year terms, are:
- Chair: Mitch Koppelman
- Chair Elect: Diane Ramirez
- Treasurer: Mike Lentz
- Secretary: Nicole Creech
- Immediate Past Chair: Traci Stewart
Mardi Gomberg-Maitland is the new chair of the Scientific Leadership Council and Tisha Kivett is the new chair of the PH Professional Network Executive Committee.
New to the board are Jessie Dunne, Dan Grinnan, Marcie McGregor, George Peoples and Jim White.
Meet the new members
Jessie Dunne
Dunne joins the board as chair elect of the PHPN Executive Committee. She is a clinical pharmacist for advanced heart failure and transplant at Oregon Health and Science University. She also is the PGY-2 ambulatory care residency coordinator. Dunne was the first co-chair of the PHPN Education Committee. Nationally, Dunne is a fellow of the American College of Cardiology and a member of the ACC Cardiovascular Team Pharmacist Workgroup.
Dan Grinnan
Grinnan joins the board as chair of the Accreditation and Registry Committee. He is medical director of the PHA-accredited PH Care Center at VCU Medical Center in Richmond, Virginia. He is member of PHA’s Scientific Leadership Council and the PH Care Center Communications Committee, and he chairs the PH Care Center Review Committee. He previously was chair of the PHA Registry Committee.
Marcie McGregor
McGregor joined PHA in 2012 soon after she was diagnosed with pulmonary arterial hypertension. She founded and leads a PHA support group in Augusta, Georgia. As a longtime PHA volunteer, McGregor has served on PHA’s Membership Committee and Support Group Leadership Advisory Board. She also is a PHA Peer Mentor. She says her proudest accomplishment was creating a coloring book to help kids with PH feel a little less alone and more understood.
George Peoples
Peoples served 30 years of active duty as a military surgeon and research scientist. He joined PHA five years ago after his daughter was diagnosed with PH. As a PHA volunteer, he has participated in fundraising and national meetings and served as an adviser about the PHA Registry, clinical trials and industry engagement.
While practicing as a military surgical oncologist, Peoples created the Cancer Vaccine Development Program to discover, develop and test cancer vaccines.
Jim White
White joins the board as chair elect of the Scientific Leadership Committee. White is the founding director of the pulmonary arterial hypertension program at the University of Rochester Medical Center, a PHA-accredited Comprehensive Care Center. He has been the principal investigator for the university’s Phase 2 and 3 research programs with his partner, Daniel Lachant. White is a member of the PHA’s Scientific Leadership Council.
Leaving the board are Todd Bull, Charlie Burger, Tony Lahnston, Melissa Magness and Doug Taylor.
