On Wednesday, Oct. 2, the Pulmonary Hypertension Association, COPD Foundation and other partner organizations will spread awareness about oxygen therapy and challenges in accessing oxygen. Participate and celebrate World Oxygen Day by sharing your oxygen story for the COPD Foundation’s video campaign.

Want to learn more? Hear from Jaeger Spratt, PHA’s advocacy and treatment access program manager, in this video. Spratt explains why oxygen is important to the PH community and how legislation such as the SOAR Act can make oxygen access easier.

Here’s how you can share your story and raise oxygen awareness:

Film from your couch or desk, or get creative with backdrops and settings. If you speak a language other than English, you can submit a video in that language too.

Use your phone (or a device you’re comfortable with) to record yourself saying, “Hi! I’m [your name] from [your state, organization, or other affiliation]. Happy World Oxygen Day! We celebrate World Oxygen Day because everybody needs oxygen, and some people need a little extra. Help us get it for them.”

Feel free to add a sentence or two about why oxygen is important to you or a loved one.

After you’ve made your recording, post your video to your social media accounts with the hashtag #WorldOxygenDay.

If you would like your recording to be shared in a compilation video made by the COPD Foundation, email a link to your video to the COPD Foundation and PHA. You will receive an email asking to sign a release form that gives your permission to share the video.
