PHA’s podcast PH Insights began its third season Aug. 12 with a few new features, including a medical advisory team.

The medical advisory team – Charles Burger, Greg Elliott, Naomi Habib and Akshay Muralidhar – will add clinical perspective to patient-led discussions. Jenna Olitsky returns as host.

The new season also will feature six video episodes, allowing audiences to watch as well as listen to guests and hosts.

In the season premiere, PHA board member Allison Dsouza discusses how she balanced treatment, managed symptoms and navigated life with PH while building a career. Dsouza’s experience as a patient inspired her to become a nurse.

About the podcast team

Jenna Olitsky is an estate planning attorney from Orange County, California. She began blogging about health and travel after she was diagnosed with PH related to hereditary hemorrhagic telangiectasia.

Charlie Burger is director of the Pulmonary Vascular Center at Mayo Clinic Florida, PHA-accredited PH Care Center. His specialty areas include pulmonary vascular disease, liver-lung disease and rare cystic lung disease.

Greg Elliott has been a champion of PHA’s mission since PHA’s early years, when his research identified a gene mutation that caused heritable PH. He recently retired from Intermountain Medical Center in Utah.

Naomi Habib is co-director of the Arizona Pulmonary Specialists PH Center of Excellence. A former ICU nurse, she was inspired in medical school to specialize in PH because of a friend with PH and PH specialist Jeffrey Feldman.

Akshay Muralidhar is the medical director for the Pulmonary Hypertension Center of Excellence at Arizona Pulmonary Specialists and the Barrows Neurological Institute HHT Center of Excellence. He specializes in pulmonary arterial hypertension, chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension, HHT and right heart failure.
