Collective pressure from PHA and other healthcare organizations is paying off. In June, the Supplemental Oxygen Access Reform Act gained 12 new cosponsors in the House of Representatives and Senate. PHA advocates met with staffers for two of those lawmakers, Reps. Chellie Pingree (D-Maine) and Mariannette Miller-Meeks (R-Iowa), during our in-person Hill Day in March.

The Pulmonary Hypertension Association recently ramped up advocacy efforts with two events: the June Advocacy Challenge and a multi-organization virtual Hill Day on June 24 and 25.

Thirty advocates from PHA, Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation, American Lung Association, American Association for Respiratory Care and American Thoracic Society met with 29 key legislative offices for the virtual Hill visits. The advocates shared personal stories about oxygen challenges and urged lawmakers to support the SOAR Act.
