Take action today by urging your members of Congress to support the Supplemental Oxygen Access Reform Act.
The Pulmonary Hypertension Association and Oxygen Coalition partners are conducting a Week of Action to advocate for the SOAR Act. Each has a specific day call-in day, and today Thursday, Sept. 25, is PHA’s day.
Earlier in the month, PHA and other Oxygen Coalition members kept up a steady drumbeat of support for the SOAR Act, including at PHA’s PH Professional Network Symposium.
The Sept. 18 event began with a Day of Action, where symposium attendees participated in a workshop to learn to advocate for the PH community. PHPN Symposium attendees also took part in PHA’s Advocacy Challenge, making 25 calls and sending 174 emails to Congress.
Help PHA build on the momentum created by PH health care professionals about this important bill. Members of Congress need to understand how the SOAR Act could help people access the type and level of supplemental oxygen they need.
Calling is one of the most powerful ways to influence your elected officials, even more than social media or email. Phone calls show your commitment to a cause. Legislators track what their constituents care about because it affects their reelection, policy priorities and political leverage.
With PHA’s call script and legislator look-up, it’s easy to call your representatives and senator in five minutes or less:
- On PHA’s SOAR Act Action Alert, scroll down to enter your home address.
- After entering your address, a new section with an email and phone icon will appear. Click the phone icon to see your legislators’ office phone numbers next to their photos. Follow the call script provided.
- After you make the call, check the “Called” box for each office you reach, whether you talk to a person or leave a voice mail.
- When finished with all three calls, enter your contact information and click the “Done Calling” button to make sure your calls are counted during our Week of Action.
