The Pulmonary Hypertension Association needs your help to accelerate the Safe Step Act’s momentum in Congress. The legislation has 41 co-sponsors in the Senate and 219 in the House.
The Safe Step Act seeks to limit step-therapy requirements by insurance companies. Step therapy requires people to try less expensive treatments than those their doctors prescribe. The insurance companies will cover prescribed treatments only after patients fail on less expensive prescriptions.
The bill is a key component of a legislative package known as the Pharmacy Benefit Manager Reform Package. The legislation would increase oversight of pharmacy benefit managers and improve access to care.
PHA and its partners in the Safe Step Act Coalition are keeping up the pressure on Congress with an online Day of Action on Tuesday, July 23. Join our efforts to make sure pharmacy benefit manager reform includes the Safe Step Act by sending a message to your legislators. You can personalize PHA’s message by adding your experience.
After you’ve sent your message on July 23, share the link by social media or email, and ask five friends or family members to write to their legislators. You also can post about your advocacy on social media. Try tagging congressional leaders to bring more attention to the bill. Use the messages below, or create your own:
