An annual Oklahoma City fundraiser for the Pulmonary Hypertension Association (PHA) brought the community together virtually this year. The Nov. 21 Right Heart Fight raised money for the fifth straight year for PHA’s support, education and research programming.

The online event featured pictures and memories from previous walks, messages from local patients and recognition of the Right Heart Fight fundraising teams. The celebration focused on a common goal: raising money for PHA and ultimately finding a cure for PH.

The event has become one of the largest community fundraisers for PHA since it was founded in 2015 by John Kingrey, M.D., and his team at Integris Pulmonary Hypertension Center. “And we’re just getting started,” Dr. Kingrey says.

“I was thinking about what I could do outside of my normal doctor duties to raise the standard for PH care in the state,” Dr. Kingrey says. “The answer was obvious – we needed an event for the patients. Something for them to be proud of and to celebrate.”
