Share a PH-friendly recipe
The Pulmonary Hypertension Association invites you to share your favorite healthy recipes, whether they are low-sodium dishes, PH-friendly desserts, or nutrient-rich meals, to support and inspire others in the PH community on their wellness journey.
Submission guidelines
- Heart friendly/low sodium options: Recipes must align with the American Heart Association’s guidelines, as advised by some PH doctors, particularly for pulmonary arterial hypertension patients. The AHA recommends limiting sodium to 2,400 mg per day for healthy adults, 2,000 mg for heart failure patients. Here are some common conversions:
-
- 1/4 teaspoon salt = 500 mg sodium
- 1/2 teaspoon salt = 1,000 mg sodium
- 3/4 teaspoon salt = 1,500 mg sodium
- 1 teaspoon salt = 2,000 mg sodium
- 1 tsp baking soda = 1,000 mg sodium
More details can be found on the AHA’s website.
- Original creations: Recipes should be your unique creations or healthy, PH-friendly adaptations of popular drinks, dishes or snacks. If you are submitting someone else’s recipe, please give proper credit to the original creator. Avoid plagiarism or copying.
- Use common ingredients: Recipes should use ingredients that are commonly available in local grocery stores.
- Use standardized measurements: Submit recipes that use standardized measurement units like teaspoons and tablespoons instead of vague quantities (a pinch or a dash).
- Provide clear instructions: Include a clear, concise list of ingredients and provide detailed, step-by-step preparation instructions.
