About Carole
When Carole was diagnosed in 2010, she took a sabbatical from her job as a speech language pathologist. She decided to reconnect with her Scottish heritage and learned to play the bagpipes. Today, she uses an electronic chanter instead of actual pipes because of her PH. “I can play all my favorite songs and still enjoy my connection to music.”
Carole has been married 55 years and has three kids and four grandchildren. She enjoys hiking, traveling, writing, visting Cape Cod beaches, birding and enjoying family times.
Now that she’s retired, she tries to volunteer when she can. She answers calls on PHA’s Patient and Caregiver Support Line and serves as peer mentor. She’s open to sharing her my own experiences with PH and says she learns something new from every caller. “My PH journey is about finding a balance between doing the things I love and living the life I want to live, while listening to what my body needs.”
