The latest issue of Advances in Pulmonary Hypertension addresses health disparity-challenges related to pulmonary hypertension (PH) patient care. Advances is the Pulmonary Hypertension Association’s free quarterly clinical journal.

Volume 21, Issue 2, includes articles on:

  • Hispanic ethnicity and social determinants of health.
  • The impact of socioeconomic, racial and ethnic disparities on the diagnosis and treatment of PH patients.
  • How other rare disease patient advocacy groups mitigate the effects of health disparities among their patient populations.

“Now more than ever there is an urgency to ensure that all PH patients are receiving the best care available,” says guest editor Vinicio A. de Jesus Perez, M.D., of Stanford University. “Health disparities can take away from our capacity to care for PH patients and should be a priority for public health advocacy and research.”
