“I know [a cure] is coming soon…I continue to have hope!”

By Alice Yount

“I was diagnosed with pulmonary hypertension (PH) in August 2016. Like many, for years doctors thought I had exercise-induced asthma.  Instead of going the normal route to treat my PH, I tried treating with a specialist that used whole food supplements to treat illnesses. Needless to say, this didn’t work and one year later I ended up in the hospital for two weeks. I had liver, kidney and heart failure and was immediately put on Remodulin.  The doctors all worked together and saved my life.

So, what gives me hope?  I am alive…there are drugs that work to help with PH and there are things that I can do in my life to keep me stable. Exercise is important, diet is important and being able to have great medical care is a huge blessing. I try and take the best care possible of my body. I am fortunate that I am still able to work from home; something that gives me great joy. When I watch my diet, exercise, get plenty of rest and keep myself active, I know that it all helps with my PH.

There is a cure! I know it is coming soon…I continue to have hope!”
