PHA Centers of Comprehensive Care

History

The Cottage Pulmonary Hypertension Program at Cottage Health System was established in 2008 by Dr. Sager. Cottage has a large referral base including patients from Santa Barbara County, Ventura County, Kern County and San Luis Obispo County. The program leadership consists of a program director, coordinator and administrative leadership. The outpatient clinic is a multidisciplinary clinic with patients having access to a PH physician, nurse, social worker, physical therapist and dietitician. Additionally, the Cottage PH Program has four critical care trained nurses who are trained in all facets of pulmonary hypertension and who take care of patients during hospitalizations.

Inpatient facilities consist of a new $960 million facility that is a regional medical center (Cottage Health System) with the capabilities to take care of all facets of PAH diagnosis therapy, including a cardiac catherization laboratory, intensive care unit and interventional radiology. The Cottage PH Program has an established referral pattern for lung transplantation and pulmonary thromboendarterectomy (PTE).
