History
The Pulmonary Hypertension Program at the University of Colorado, an internationally recognized regional referral center was established in 1990. David Badesch, M.D., heads the program which has become one of the world’s leading centers for clinical research and patient care, growing from one physician and one clinical research coordinator to approximately 20 physicians, nurse practitioners, clinical nurses, research coordinators and support staff members. An estimated 3,000-4,000 patients have been seen, with all forms of pulmonary hypertension (PH), from an eight-state region in the Rocky Mountain West and beyond. The program is now part of the Pulmonary Vascular Disease Center, under the direction of Todd Bull, MD, which encompasses all forms of pulmonary vascular disease, as well as a translational research program. The Pulmonary Hypertension Clinic is located in the Cardiac & Vascular Center at the University of Colorado Hospital and utilizes a specialized pulmonary unit in the hospital for inpatient services.
