History

The University of New Mexico Pulmonary Hypertension Program started in February 2013. The program is led by Dr. Lana Melendres-Groves, a graduate of the University of New Mexico School of Medicine. Dr. Melendres-Groves also completed her residency and fellowship at the University of New Mexico with a subsequent post-doctorate in pulmonary vascular disease at Stanford University. The PH team consists of two physicians, two CNPs, a social worker, two case managers, and a dedicated PH nurse. The program, based in the pulmonary division, works closely with cardiology for complex cases and congenital heart disease. The program works to establish patients not only with a provider, but also with services housed within the University of New Mexico, including social work and palliative medicine.
