PH and Congenital Heart Disease

John T. Berger III, M.D., discusses congenital heart disease (CHD) and reviews types of heart and blood vessel abnormalities that can develop before a person is born that could lead to pulmonary hypertension (PH). Dr. Berger’s shares his perspective on pediatric practices and treatments through his experience with the Collaborative Pediatric Critical Care Research Network funded by the Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development.

John T. Berger, III, M.D.
John T. Berger, III, M.D., serves as the medical director for the pulmonary hypertension program and the cardiac extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) program at Children’s National Hospital in Washington, D.C. He received an undergraduate degree from the University of Virginia and a medical degree from Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis. Dr. Berger specializes in treating advanced heart failure, PH and CHD. He is a co-investigator in the Collaborative Pediatric Critical Care Research Network funded by Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development.
