As we look forward to a time when travel is safe again, the Pulmonary Hypertension Association (PHA) plans to welcome you in Atlanta. PHA 2022 International PH Conference and Scientific Sessions will be PHA’s most memorable event yet.

Mark your calendars for this overdue opportunity to connect, celebrate survival and learn about advances in pulmonary hypertension research.

“We look forward to having our community together, face to face, arm in arm and to celebrate all the things that PHA’s about,” said Karen Fagan, M.D., outgoing chair of PHA’s Board of Trustees.

Colleen Brunetti, M.Ed, C.H.C., who takes over as chair July 1, announced the PHA 2022 location June 24 in a Facebook Live event with Dr. Fagan. “Let’s get ready for Atlanta. We can’t wait to see you,” Colleen said. “Let’s make the next two years very exciting.”

The announcement followed a virtual transition ceremony for the incoming and outgoing board chairs. As the second PH patient to serve as chair, what Colleen brings to PHA is incredibly powerful and important, Dr. Fagan said.

“She is a patient and fierce advocate, not only for herself, but the entire community,” she said, noting that Colleen finds and addresses areas of need. As a founder of PHA’s Generation Hope, Colleen helped identify and create programming for young adults with PH.

“We’ve had leadership from doctors, nurses, caregivers, and now it’s time for another patient,” said Colleen, who was diagnosed 12 years ago when she was 28. “Although I will be the chair, I will always be a patient first and foremost.”
