Spread pulmonary hypertension (PH) awareness by sharing your story for American Heart Month in February.
The Pulmonary Hypertension Association (PHA) will join other organizations in February to call attention to the importance of cardiovascular health. Heart disease can lead to PH or exacerbate symptoms.
Likeminded organizations such as the American Heart Association, the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute and the Centers for Disease Control and Infection will offer tips and toolkits in February to emphasize the importance of heart health. American Heart Month campaigns also will champion the need for more research on cardiovascular issues.
According to the American Heart Association, heart disease is preventable in many instances by practicing a healthful lifestyle, such as not smoking, maintaining a healthful weight, controlling blood sugar and cholesterol, treating high blood pressure, getting at least 150 minutes of moderate-intensity physical activity a week and visiting your doctor for regular checkups.
We know heart health is important to the PH community. Tell us how you manage your PH and heart disease, how you incorporate heart-health activities into your lifestyle and how you stay active with PH. Describe how you’ve overcome challenges and have come out stronger than ever so we can share your story in February. You can inspire and give hope to the PH community.
Submit your story to the Pulmonary Hypertension Association’s Right Heart Blog.
