The government shutdown does not stop pulmonary hypertension (PH) advocacy. In fact, the nearly 100 new senators and representatives sworn into office at the beginning of the month represent an advocacy opportunity since many of them are probably not familiar with PH. Compelling personal stories from constituents are all it takes to turn members of Congress into allies of the PH community.  The Pulmonary Hypertension Association (PHA) has online resources to help you share your story.

Whether your senators and representative are new to Congress or long-time PH champions, schedule a phone call or a visit to a local office near your home to share your story and emphasize that fighting PH should be a priority for your members of Congress. Find contact information for your members of Congress or contact PHA for help getting started at Advocacy@PHAssociation.org or 301-565-3004 x749.
